Make a gift to support the Parents Fund

Thanks to the generosity of our Buckeye parents, we’re able to provide services that directly benefit current students, enrich the student experience, and go above and beyond what is covered by tuition. But we can’t do this without your support. Will you consider giving today?

    Five Steps for Moving Off-Campus

Is your student thinking about moving off campus next year? It is an exciting step, but there is a lot to know before signing a lease! Ohio State has resources to help students and families navigate the process.

    1. Attend Off-Campus Living Session 1.0

Attend an Off-Campus Living Session 1.0, presented by Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement and Student Legal Services (SLS). Students can learn about the housing search and leasing process, and there is a special session just for parents and families on October 7!

    2. Search for Housing

Explore available rentals through Ohio State's Off-Campus Housing Search and learn more about the Off-Campus Housing Network.

    3. Get Lease Reviewed by Student Legal Services Attorney

A lease is a legally binding contract. Before your student signs, encourage them to have it reviewed by a Student Legal Services attorney. We can explain the terms, flag potential concerns, and make sure your student understands their rights and responsibilities. Parents can be conferenced in by phone.

Schedule a lease review at https://studentlegal.osu.edu.

    4. Attend Off-Campus Living Session 2.0

In the spring, attend Off-Campus Living Session 2.0 for tips and information to help prepare for move-in and life off campus.

    5. Stay Connected

Follow Student Legal Services and Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement on social media for timely legal information, reminders, and tips throughout the year.

The most important reminder? Before your student signs a lease, have SLS review it!
